Milton E. Ahlerich

Mr. Ahlerich is the former Assistant Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the former Chief of League Security, National Football League. He possesses specialized experience in security assessments, investigations and event security.

Prior to joining Powhatan Group, Ahlerich was responsible for overseeing all security and investigations for the League office at the NFL. He maintained oversight for special event security, including the Super Bowl, and directed critical investigations around player misconduct and threats to games. Ahlerich was also responsible for due diligence processes for franchise sales or transfers, and pre-employment checks for league employees. During his tenure, he established the NFL’s Best Practices for Stadiums Security, a widely recognized comprehensive security plan for NFL stadiums regarding protection from potential terrorist attack. This best practice for stadium security was certified under the provisions of the Department of Homeland Security’s Safety Act that recognized the NFL’s protocols as “Anti-Terrorist Technology.”

Ahlerich began his career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Throughout his 25 year tenure with the FBI, he was appointed to several leadership positions including Assistant Director of the FBI, Agent in Charge of Field Operations for the State of Connecticut, and the Director of Congressional and Public Affairs. He retired as the Director of the FBI’s Forensic Laboratory, where he had oversight of 700 scientists, technicians and evidence analysts.
